Pork hock
Ingredients
1 pork hock
2 medium size onions, quartered
3 carrots, cut to 1 inch slices
4 garlic cloves, peeled and cut in halves
1 bottle of beer
2 TBSP bouillon (or 2 cubes)
3-5 bay leaves
5 whole black pepper corns
6 whole allspice berries
1/3 cup of mustard
1 dried chilli pepper
1/2 cup honey
Procedure
- Add oil to frying pan, use high heat to brown onions and carrots, move veggies to a big pot.
- In the same pan, fry garlic for 30 sec to 1 min, move to big pot.
- In the same pan, brown pork hock. Turn pork to brown all sides. Put in the big pot. Move veggies around so that pork is touching the bottom of the pot.
- Add beer to pot. The liquid should cover 1/3 of the height of the pork, if beer is not enough, add water.
- Add bouillon, bay leaves, black pepper corns, allspice, mustard, pepper
- Set oven at 350F, cover big pot with lid, put in oven.
- Bake for 2 hours till pork is soft - check with a fork.
- Add honey on top of pork, put pot back to oven without lid
- Bake for 15 minutes
