Marta's grandma's meatball
Ingredients
500g ground pork
1 onion, finely chopped
1 egg
spices for meatballs: 2 tsp poultry seasoning, 1 tsp chicken bouillon, 1 tsp herbes de provence, 1/2 tsp Chinese five spice, 1/3 tsp ground turmeric
1 fist-size chunk of dried up french bread
1 cup plain bread crumbs
spice for soup: 1 TBSP chicken bouillon
oil
milk
Procedure
- Soak bread in milk, flip it occasionally to make sure that it is fully soaked
- Add to a big bowl the following: pork, onion, egg, spices for meatballs.
- Squeeze milk out of bread and put the bread into the bowl.
- Mix everything in the bowl.
- Shape mix into meatballs and place on a plate.
- Put bread crumbs in a small bowl. Coat meatballs with bread crumbs.
- Use a big pot, add water so that water level is 2cm. Add 1 TBSP chicken bouillon and bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
- Add oil to frying pan, place on medium heat.
- Put meatballs in frying pan, fry till golden brown, flip meatballs so that the other side is also fried till golden brown.
- Put fried meatballs in the big pot of simmering soup.
- Let simmer for 40 minutes.
